Most people who know me personally have heard me talk about Chiang Mai,
Thailand. I consider it to be one of my homes, even though I haven’t lived there since my high school years! Last time I was back was in 2014, when I spent a week in June visiting with family, and another two weeks in July playing local soccer tournaments.
This year, I knew it was in the cards for my family and I to revisit this foreign, yet somehow incredibly local-feeling, land. It is a unique feeling – I’m not Thai, I barely speak the language, I have no family in this country… on every account, Thailand would just be another location I’ve lived at. But for some reason, I feel a much deeper connection to this city than that.
In between sorting dates and flights, I managed to convince one of my dearest friends, Christina, and her super duper awesome sister, Emily, to come to Asia for the first time! It was a pleasure showing you guys around and getting to be a tourist in Chiang Mai once again. COME BACK! :)
In 10 days, we managed to do way more than we could expect! Including riding elephants, chilling with tigers, watching monkeys monkey around, jump off cliffs at CNX Grand Canyon, exploring night bazaar and Sunday market, getting numerous Thai massages, going bamboo rafting, walking up to Wat Doi Suthep temple, dancing on stage to Thai beats, getting our feet treated by fish spa, getting lost at off the grid Thai villages on a mountain, catching a CMFC game, essentially living at the movie theatre and arcade, overdosing on Sizzlers and Duke's, paying a visit to Nat Motors and stopping by my high school!
P.S *I sincerely apologize, especially to Emily and Christina, for mistakenly deleting all the GoPro video footage for the first 7 days* I was ready to put together an all-compassing vibey video but unfortunately that will not happen anymore :(
Anyway, some of what we were up to that wasn't deleted by my carelessness...
